In southern Tanzania, on the north-west side of selous game reserve, lie two small, quite offbeat national parks: Mikumi national park and Udzungwa mountain national parks. Mikumi is easily accessible by road, it support large number of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, impala, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog, yellow baboon, lion, hyena, antelope and many species.

Itinerary idea in detail
Depart at 5:00 a.m from Dar es salaam via Morogoro and Chalinze with coffee and hot lunch on the way to mikumi. Continue with game drive here at Mikumi we will come across lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalos, wildebeest, giraffe, zebras, elephants, wilddogs and many species of birds. Drive for overnight at Mikumi park cottage inside a park. To sleep inside the park will give you an opportunity of viewing animals all the time.
Dinner and overnight will be at Mikumi Park cottage inside the Park.
Before breakfast at 6:00 am start a game drive at Mikumi park. Morning game viewing, this is the best time because most of the killings take place. Make a game drive up to 9:00 am then you will go for breakfast, after breakfast you will start a safari of 40 minutes to Udzungwa at sanje waterfall which is the highest waterfall (distance is 3.6 km and depth of 800m from sea level) in Tanzania and you can Swim in the natural pool ( remember swimming clothes). Upon arrival you will meet our guide/rangers who will accompany you on the hiking tour.
Udzungwa Mountains National Park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing and forest walks. The most popular hiking tour is up to the Sanje waterfalls, looking for monkeys, swimming in plunge pools and enjoying the spectacular view while enjoying a picnic lunch. After your hiking tour you will descend the mountains and being back to Mikumi to have an accommodation at Camp Bastian.
Before breakfast you will have a Maasai tour, with masai culture you will learn the life style of masai, polygamy style, how to make fire with sticks etc. Thereafter have a breakfast at camp bastian then depart to Dar es salaam at hotel, airport or at seaport.
